State Requirements for the State of Florida

FLORIDA STATE REQUIREMENT DETAILS FOR REAL ESTATE PRE-LICENSING EDUCATION

Hours Required by the State: 63 hours

Seat Time: The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation requires that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.

Pre-Licensing Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 70%. Students failing the Commission-prescribed end-of-course examination must wait at least 30 days from the date of the original examination to retest. Within one year of the original examination, a student may retest a maximum of one time. Otherwise, students failing the end-of-course examination must repeat the course prior to being eligible to take the end-of-course examination again.

Licensing Exam: The licensing exam is administered by PearsonVue.  Registration for the state licensing exam is an entirely separate process from proctoring for your course final exam. For instructions to register for your state licensing exam and further information, please click here.

Offering: 63 hours

Reporting: The state does not require schools to report qualifying course completions. Students will submit their certificate of completion with their license application.

Expiration Date of Course: Pre-Licensing courses expire six months after the date of purchase.  Extensions or reactivations cannot be granted beyond 12 months from the purchase of the course since, in all events, the course terminates 12 months after purchase.

Certificates: Once the signed affidavit is received, your certificate of course completion will become available to download (and via email). We will provide students with an electronic certificate of completion, upon completion of the course. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license application to determine if you need to submit your certificate of completion with your license request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date of your certificate of completion will reflect this.

Florida State Requirement Details for Real Estate Sales Associate Post-Licensing Education

Continuing Education and License Renewal Date: 3/31 and 9/30 every two years. The date you renew depends on when you initially took your licensing exam.

Hours Required by the State: 45 hours within 18-24 months after obtaining the initial license.

Note: New licensees should not take the 14 hours of “regular” CE in addition to the 45 hours, as they will not be accepted by the state. The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew.

Please note: All courses must be COMPLETED AND REPORTED to the Florida Real Estate Commission, PRIOR to your license expiration date.  Please allow ample time for course completion and reporting to the state, otherwise your license could go into a voidable status.

Post-Licensing Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 75% and may be taken twice in order to pass. If the exam is not passed the second time, the licensee must re-enroll at no cost (by contacting customer support) and retake the entire course, including the final exam. Licensees will be allotted 1.8 minutes per question. Licensees have up to 1 year, after failing the first exam to complete a second attempt.

Reporting: The state requires schools to report course completions within seven to ten days from the course completion date.

Expiration Date of Course: This post-licensing course expires one year after the date of purchase.  Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in the student’s account.

FL 72-Hour Real Estate Broker Licensing Course

Hours Required: 72hours

Reporting: The state does not require schools to report course completions.

Florida State Requirement Details for Broker Real Estate Post-Licensing Education

Continuing Education and License Renewal Date: 3/31 and 9/30 every two years. The date you renew depends on when you initially took your licensing exam.

Hours Required by the State: 60 hours within 18-24 months after obtaining the initial license. Broker’s and Sales Associates’ must complete the post-license education prior to the first renewal following initial licensure or their license will be considered null and void.

License Renewal Process: New licensees are not required to complete the 14 hours of CE in addition to the 60 hours of post-licensing, as those courses will not be accepted by the state. The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew.

Please note: All courses must be COMPLETED AND REPORTED to the Florida Real Estate Commission, PRIOR to your license expiration date.  Please allow ample time for course completion and reporting to the state, otherwise your license could go into a voidable status.

Post-Licensing Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 75% and may be taken twice in order to pass. Licensees will be allotted 1.8 minutes per question. Licensees have up to 1 year, after failing the first exam to complete a second attempt. There are 50 questions on the exam and students are allowed 90 minutes to complete.

Reporting: The state requires schools to report course completions within seven to ten business days.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date. Each course has an individual expiration date which is listed in your account.

Certificates: Once the signed affidavit is received, your certificate of course completion will become available to download (and via email).  The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic certificate of completion, upon completion of the course. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license application to determine if you need to submit your certificate of completion with your license request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Florida State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

  • 6 hours – Mandatory hours (Core Law and Ethics and Business Practices)
  • 8 hours – Elective hours

Reporting: Real estate course completions are reported to the Florida Real Estate Commission. The state requires schools to report course completions within seven to ten days from the course completion date. Course completions will be reported within this time frame. All courses must be COMPLETED AND REPORTED to the Florida Real Estate Commission, PRIOR to your license expiration date.  Please allow ample time to complete your course and for us to report your completion to the state, otherwise your license could go on inactive status. 

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in your account. 

Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with at least an 80% and may only be taken once. If the exam is not passed the first time, the licensee must re-enroll (at no cost) and retake the entire course, including the final exam.

Certificates: Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion with your renewal. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.

Additional Rules Pertaining to the 28-Hour Reinstatement Course:

Final Exam: Final exam must be passed with a minimum of 70%. Students failing the Commission-prescribed end-of-course examination may retest a maximum of one time within one year of the original examination. Otherwise, students failing the Commission-prescribed end-of-course examination must repeat the course prior to being eligible to again take the end-of-course examination.

License Renewal Process: The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew. 

Post-Licensing: Sales associates are required to complete 45 hours of approved Sales Associate Post-Licensing education within 18-24 months after obtaining the initial license.  Brokers are required to complete 60 hours of approved Broker Post-Licensing courses within 18-24 months after obtaining the initial license.

28-Hr. FL Reinstatement Course

Requirement: For licensees that have let their 2nd licensing or beyond expire more than 12 months and not more than 24 months reinstate their licenses. 

Hours Required: 28 hours
